Sweden Commemorates Holocaust

Sweden has been commemorating the Holocaust on this the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the World War II death camp Auschwitz in southern Poland – with  ceremonies in synagogues, universities and other public places throughout the country.


Government ministers and other representatives of the Swedish society  gathered in the Great Stockholm Synagogue  – commemorating the 27th of  January liberation by the Red Army of  surviving prisoners in the death camp  – including Jews, the roma sinti, Polish intellectuals,  Soviet prisoners of war, homosexuals, dissident churchmen and critics of the Nazi regime.
