At the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Sweden is gearing up for the men’s ice hockey quarter-final against Slovakia, being played late Wednesday Pacific Time.
The Swedes beat local rival Finland 3-0 to top their group and advance to the quarters. The Slovaks fought back in the final period Tuesday to edge Norway 4-3 to win their spot in the final eight. The winning goal came after a Slovak forward was decked by a Norwegian elbow that left him bleeding on the ice with a concussion.
Swedish goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist has not surrendered a goal in two Olympic starts. The winners will take on either Russia or Canada in the semi-finals.
