Unibet Loses Case against Swedish State

The international gaming company Unibet has lost its case for damages from the Swedish state, claiming that the Swedish ban on foreign gaming advertisement is against EU law and has also lost the company a lot of money.

However on Tuesday, Unibet lost its case at Eskilstuna district court. The court did criticise the "aggressive" marketing techniques used until the year 2007 by the Swedish monopoly company Svenska Spel. But the court found that the regulation of the Swedish gaming market in principle still fulfills the requirements of the EU law.
