SIDA Stops Aid because of Fraud Suspicion

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency SIDA has stopped its financial aid to a Bosnian research center that is suspected of fraud. The center was supposed to receive 600,000 dollars to finance a documentation of civilians killed during the Balkan War of the early 90’s.

The contract with the center was canceled after SIDA learned that board members are under police investigation for embezzling funds and for tax evasion. SIDA now demands that the center must pay back 300,000 dollars it has already received.
