Fewer Robberies due to Snow

The snowy weather in the past months has had a positive side effect when it comes to robberies. The number of shops that became victims for robberies sank by 15 percent compared with the previous winter, as figures by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention show.

According to the head of security department at the Swedish Trade Federation, Dick Malmlund, potential robbers want to avoid leaving their footprints in the snow and flying from the crime scene on slippery streets. But Malmlund also warns of the spring season: “After this long winter, robbers might be in desperate need of cash – so we might see a rise in robberies when the snow has melted away.”
