Mediator's Proposal Accepted

In the ongoing collective bargaining both the union and the employers have accepted the proposal put forward by a mediator – leading to a renewed tariff agreement that will set the standard for some 3 million employees in Sweden. In separate press statements published late Friday afternoon, IF Metall – a blue-collar union – and the employers’ side announced that they will accept the mediator’s proposal.

It comes into effect on April 1st and has duration of 22 months. During this period, incomes are supposed to rise by at least 3.2 percent, according to the agreement. Even though merely 2,500 employees at the industrial sector are directly affected by the deal, their tariff agreements are traditionally seen as the norm for the brunt of Sweden’s employees.
