A 25 year old Swedish soldier training to go to Afghanistan in May was seriously injured by a smoke-grenade during an exercise on Saturday. For unknown reasons, the grenade exploded while he was carrying it, and the man got ten percent burns on arms and legs. His condition is stabile and not life threatening.
The accident happened while on exercise in the Stockholm archipelago. He was treated by a nurse within ten minutes, and taken to hospital, first in Stockholm, and then later he was moved to Uppsala. The Armed Forces will investigate the cause of the explosion.
