IKEA Recalls Deadly Curtains

The Swedish furniture company IKEA is recalling 3.4 million Venetian and window blinds of different kinds sold in the United States and Canada. This comes after a one-year-old boy in Michigan was strangled to death after interacting with the mechanism that draws the blinds up. Two other children had similar accidents in which they could have lost their lives.

IKEA is recalling the blinds, sold in the US and Canada between January 1998 and June 2009.

Similar products were already recalled by Wal-Mart stores at the end of last year.
