Sweden’s defending tennis champion, Robin Söderling, lost to his Spanish rival, Nicolas Almagro, at the ATP Swedish Open in Båstad on Sunday.
Söderling lost after three sets (5-7, 6-3, 2-6) and conceded that he was not in good enough form to beat the younger Spanish player.
“It was tough today. I feel that it was me who lost this match,” he told Swedish Radio.
“Sometimes you lose even though you’ve played your best and then there’s nothing you can do. But this time I didn’t get up to the standard I'd wanted. And that’s what I’m most disappointed about.”
