Sten Andersson passed away on Tuesday, reports newspaper Skånska Dagbladet.
The 67-year-old politician had served as a member of parliament for one of Sweden's biggest parties, the Moderates, from 1983 until 2001. But in 2002, he joined the extreme-right Sweden Democrats.
Since 2006, he has been a delegate in Malmö's local government. He was also running for a position in parliament for the Sweden Democrats in this year's national elections.
