Swedish troops under fire
Swedish soldiers were attacked just west of Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Afghanistan on Friday afternoon, according the Swedish Armed Forces website.
The foot patrol called in air support, which arrived about half an hour after the fighting broke out.
No soldiers have yet been reported wounded.
The attack comes on the heels of reports that the situation for Swedish troops serving in Afghanistan is not as safe as the military had let on.
Some 500 Swedish soldiers are stationed in the area as part of a NATO-led peacekeeping force in the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan.
