Pumpkin shortage for Halloween?

Swedes wanting pumpkins for Halloween could be in trouble, as this year's harvest is already rotting while in storage, according to farming news website ATL.

Swedish pumpkins are harvested in August, and then kept in storage until the end of October, when they are taken to the country's stores. However many have already started to rot and collapse before even going on sale.

It's thought that the pumpkins ripened unusually early this year, and many now won't last until the end of the month before starting to rot away. One farmer told the website he had already lost over ten percent of his stock.
