Thursday is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, intended to raise public awareness of abuses committed against women around the world. This is the 10th time the day has been marked by the United Nations.
The day is intended to raise awareness of how women around the world are subject to rape, domestic abuse and other forms of violence. But does declaring a day make a difference? And now widespread is violence against women in Sweden, a country noted for women's equality?
