More snow expected on Wednesday

The weather caused a lot of problems in the south of the country on Tuesday. Large amounts of snow have been falling in the south central parts, and several lorries, buses and cars are reported to have slid off the ice-covered roads.

Several thousands of households have been without electricity in the area of Jönköping and Östergötland, while numerous properties in the Kalmar area are reported to have been flooded after all the rain that has come over the past few days.

And the weather forecast for Wednesday says it will be much of the same tomorrow, with snow and wind in the southern and central parts of the country. In the very south and in Småland, 10-20 centimetres of snow is expected. In the costal areas it starts off as rain, but this will turn to snow as colder air comes down from the north. Clear skies expected only in the north, where the temperatures will go down to -25 degrees Celsius during the night.
