Man died after being arrested

A young man has died of a heart attack he suffered while in police custody. An internal investigation is now looking into the police's actions.

The 21-year old was arrested on Saturday in Karlstad, central Sweden. Police spokesman Tommy Lindh says that the man was intoxicated and acting aggressively and that the police had to use a certain amount of force to restrain him.

While being handed over to hospital staff later on the young man suffered a heart attack. On Wednesday the police were told that the 21-year old had died.

Law professor Dennis Töllborg says to news agency TT that the police have not changed their methods enough, even though other deaths in custody have shown that certain kinds of restraint holds are dangerous.
