Swedish man pleads guilty to Auschwitz theft

A Swede has been charged in Poland with stealing the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" sign from the Auschwitz Nazi death camp, reports the AP news agency.

The man is named as Anders Högström. He is charged for the crime along with two Polish men - but yet another Swede is said to be the brains behind the operation.

According to the Polish prosecutor the three men have pleaded guilty and should expect to be jailed.
