Helicopter robbery trial starts again

The second trial for the ten men accused of the spectacular helicopter heist of a cash depot in southern Stockholm last year started in the Court of Appeals on Tuesday.

The prosecutor wants harsher punishments for all men involved. He has previously told news agency TT that the punishment for the man known as the helicopter pilot and the man who admitted he was inside the depot should be between seven and ten years in prison.

Seven out of ten men who were charged for their involvement in the robbery were convicted by the district court in October while three were released.

The robbers allegedly got away with $5.3 million after entering the depot via the roof. They left the scene in the helicopter that was later found abandoned. The money has never been found and the investigation to find more people involved in the heist is ongoing.
