Smart phones boost Sony Ericsson profits

The Swedish-Japanese mobile phone giant Sony Ericsson made a 40 million U.S. dollar profit in the last quarter of 2010 - compared to a major loss in the same period the year before.

This is credited with the sale of smart phones. However, the company’s market share for mobile phones sank to a new low, dropping from four to three percent of the world market.
