Situation more serious for Afghan troops

According to a new report, the situation facing the Swedish forces in Afghanistan will be more serious this year.

The newspaper Dagens Nyheter has obtained the report, from the EU-financed Afghanistan NGO Safety Office. It forecasts that the area in northern Afghanistan where the 500 members of the Swedish Isaf mission are stationed will come under attack twice a day during 2011, compared to just once a month in 2007.

The report says that since 2006-2007 the number of attacks in the area every month has increased by 40 to 65 percent.
