Winter sickness is on the rise

A wave of the winter vomiting sickness is putting pressure on the Swedish health service. The virus, also known as the Norovirus, is right now spreading fastest around Örebro county as well as parts of southern Sweden - but worst hit of all is the north, especially Västerbotten county.

Kjell-Olof Hedlund at the Swedish Centre for Disease Control says that the trend is not unusual, but that it is going steadily upwards.

And Varberg hospital has had to cancel some non-critical operations because of the extra workload from norovirus.
