Billström in interview gaffe

Migration Minister Tobias Billström gave the same answer more than fifteen times in a TV interview Friday about the alleged remarks made by himself and Foreign Minister Carl Bildt with US diplomats about Iraqi refugees. The comments were released by Wikileaks from US diplomatic cables.

When asked to comment about the leaks, Billström answered that it is Swedish government policy not to comment on Wikileaks because they are "third-hand evidence". When it was pointed out that he was at the meeting and could give first hand evidence, the minister continued to say he would not comment because the information was based on "third-hand evidence". In the three minute interview the minister gave the same answer to over fifteen questions about the leak.

The documents leaked by Wikileaks claim that Billström and Bildt cited honour-related violence as a reason why the number of refugees from Iraq coming to Sweden should be restricted.
