Swedish kids less fit

Young Swedes are less fit than a generation ago, according to new research from Stockholm's Sports College.

They have looked at fitness tests carried out among young people in 2007 and compared those results with similar tests carried out among 16-year-olds in 1987. They found that fitness levels were around ten percent lower today compared to twenty years ago, reports newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

Researchers say a more sedentary lifestyle is to blame and call for more sports activities in school.
