Fewer women among police trainees

A diminishing number of women have been accepted in Sweden's police school this year - following criticism that women have been favored over men who far outnumber the women among the applicants.

For the last three years, female police trainees have been 50% – this time dropping to 37% of the 368 total.

20% of those accepted this time have foreign backgrounds - part of the Swedish policy policy to get more policemen on the street with immigrant backgrounds.
