Sweden is to oppose Bolivia's attempts to remove the coca leaf from a United Nations list of banned drugs. Swedish Minister for Children and the Elderly, Maria Larsson has sent in an official protest to the UN, saying the UN convention on narcotics is more important than the UN declaration for the rights of indigenous peoples.

Bolivian President Evo Morales wants the leaf's use legalised, as it has been used for thousands of years by native tribes in the South American country.
