End to local government veto on wind power?

Swedish Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren is threatening to tear up the local government's veto right against the establishment of wind power stations - insisting that the national interest in renewable energy should be a greater priority.

He adds that local politicians should not just listen to local critics insisting that the wind power turbines spoil the view or cause too much noise - and instead try to find solutions to energy needs instead of rejecting plans for more wind power.
