Bert Sundström

Stabbed Cairo reporter back in Sweden

Swedish Television reporter Bert Sundström is back in Sweden, after being stabbed in Cairo last week.

Swedish Television News writes on its website that Sundström was flown home in an air ambulance and was taken immediately to a hospital here. He was stabbed last Thursday just after leaving his hotel in Cairo, on the same day that more than 100 journalists in the Egyptian capital were attacked.

His mobile telephone was answered by a man speaking Arabic, who said the reporter was in the hands of the Egyptian military.

He later turned up in a hospital next to Tahrir Square, with lung and head injuries.
