Brigitte Bardot blasts Swedish wolf hunt
Former French film star Brigitte Bardot has denounced Sweden’s wolf hunt as “retrograde”.
In a letter to Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren, the film star turned animal rights activist calls on the minister to stop the hunt so that the already fragile wolf population can strengthen itself.
The European Commission has already launched legal action against Sweden for allowing hunters to kill nearly 10 percent of the wolves here, even though the species is threatened with extinction.
On Sunday protesters marched through central Stockholm carrying 20 coffins to symbolize the number of wolves in this year’s hunt.
