Police drug dogs to search schools

Three schools in the northern Swedish city of Östersund will be the nation's first to bring drug-sniffing dogs on campus.

School administrators say they have had problems with students coming to class under the influence, and have asked police to search for contraband in lockers.

Teachers' rooms will also be subject to canine sweeps.

Proposals floated earlier that would allow random drug testing in schools have met resistance from students, parents and teachers concerned about civil rights.
