Boultbee demands newspaper retraction

The British commercial property investment company Boultbee is demanding a retraction to a story published yesterday in the daily Svenska Dagbladet newspaper. As reported Wednesday by Radio Sweden, tenants in Stockholm shopping centers owned by Boultbee are accusing the company of unreasonable rent increases and neglected maintenance.

In a press release today, Boultbee accuses Svenska Dagbladet of “printing inaccurate and misleading information which in effect amounts to an accusation of criminal activity” when the paper stated that Boultbee paid a dividend to shareholders last October.

The press release does not address tenants’ claims that the company is facing a financing crisis, or calls by Stockholm politicians for a criminal investigation.

Boultbee Chairman Steve Boultbee Brooks says his lawyers are looking into possible legal action against the newspaper.
