Pärson claims 11th world championship medal

Sweden's Anja Pärson claimed the 18th medal of her fantastic ten year career when she took bronze in the women's super-combined event at the world ski championsips on Friday.

The Swede, who took bronze in the same event at last year's Olympics, has now won 11 world championship medals, including seven golds, but she was a little disappointed not to finish higher.

"Bronze is great but I wanted to win, my slalom run was only just OK so I must settle for third place. I was skiing really fast today but I made a lot of mistakes, too. I think I lost the race because of a costly error in the downhill."

With Lindsey Vonn missing and Maria Riesch slowed by a fever, Austria's Anna Fenninger took gold.
