Pärson disappoints in downhill

Sweden's Anja Pärson had hoped for a gold medal in the women's downhill event at the World Alpine championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen but a mistake ridden run saw her finish in eleventh.

Pärson, who claimed a bronze medal in Friday's super-combination event , was disappointed with her performance.

Austria's Elisabeth Goergl won gold, following up her gold in the super-G while Lindsey Vonn of the United States took silver and Germany's Maria Riesch claimed bronze.
