dodgy dealings in housing market

More estate agents warned

A total of 21 estate agents were given official warnings due to malpractice during the first quarter of 2011, compared with just 13 last year, according to tabloid Aftonbladet.

The Swedish Board of Supervision of Estate Agents has been especially looking into estate agents that put houses and flats onto the market at way under the going price, simply to attract potential buyers.

The paper reports however that the board has not investigated some of the more serious accusations, for example of fake offers to push up sales prices, due to lack of evidence.
