AIK punished for fireworks

Football club AIK has been punished with an automatic 0-3 loss, and fined almost US$ 24,000 by the Swedish Football Association's disciplinary committee, because of violence at a match against Syrianska.

When the match on the 25th of April was broken off Syrianska, from Södertälje, was winning 0-1 against AIK, which is based in northern Stockholm.

After the goal against AIK was scored one of the club's players was sent off. Some AIK fans started to throw fireworks onto the pitch. One injured a ball-boy.

An assistant referee has had also his hearing damaged by a banger that exploded by his ear, but the disciplinary committee say in their judgement that it is not possible to say from where the explosive was thrown, and therefore no club can be blamed for it.

The police are still investigating the matter.
