Wolf had to be put down

After several months of wandering around, the wolf, which was moved from northern Sweden to Dalarna in central Sweden, to protect the reindeers in Gällivare, was shot and killed this weekend.

The wolf never settled in its new area and instead walked back to Norrbotten province, where it was put down.

The wolf was considered important in the work to prevent inbreeding in the Swedish wolf population since it was a mix between one Scandinavian wolf and a wolf from Russia.
