power cut on board

Tourists forced to abandon ship

1 700 passengers travelling around the Baltic Sea on a cruise ship had to abandon the liner Monday evening as the ship suffered a power cut.

The MSC Opera left Southampton in the UK last week and had already visited Amsterdam, Stockholm, Helsinki and St Petersburg before the power went just north of the town of Visby on the Baltic island of Gotland.

All the passengers have now left the boat and on their way back home, they have been promised a similar trip next year as compensation.
