New guidelines on benefits for pregnant women

After a ruling by the Supreme Administrative Court more women could become eligible for the benefits during their pregnancy, Swedish Radio News reports.

The system offers pregnant women a chance to leave work early on in their pregnancy if their job is considered dangerous for the unborn child.

The Swedish Social Insurance Administration, in charge of paying the benefits, have so far only allowed compensation to be paid out for certain occupations but the court has now ruled that the administration should make an individual assessment in each case.
