Skin cancer tests

Doctors aware of mistakes

Senior physicians at Gothenburg's  Sahlgrenska University Hospital admit that they knew last June that mistakes were being made with interpreting the results of skin cancer tests - but didn't realize that this was systematic.

Nearly 30 cases of incorrect readings of the cancer tests last fall and this spring have been reported to the authorities. In one case, a patient died of skin cancer only five months after being declared healthy.
