Little chance of punishment for not paying TV fees

News agency TT reports that people who do not pay Sweden's radio and TV fees have little chance of being punished. Radiotjänst, which is part of Swedish Public Service, reported just 41 people to the police last year for not paying.

Newspaper Hem och Hyra reports that one of these people was judged and fined. The other cases were written off.

Just under 3,500,000 people paid their fees every month in 2010.

Around three percent of households are exempt from the fee because they do not have equipment that receives television signals.
