Hooligan to be prosecuted for pitch invasion

A 19-year-old man is to be prosecuted for throwing a firecracker onto a football pitch in May, causing a top division match between rivals Malmö FF and Helsingborg to be called off.

The 19-year-old threw the firework at Helsingborg's goalie Pär Hansson, and invaded the pitch, prosecutors say.

He could also face heavy damages, as Malmö FF say they will demand he pays the US$ 23000 fine they were forced to pay when the match was cancelled, and they are also considering making him pay the costs of other supporters who want their ticket money back.

The man says he does not remember what happened because he was drunk, reports news agency TT.
