Säpo confirms Gothenburg mosque raid

Sweden's security police Säpo today confirmed that it raided the administrative office of a mosque in Gothenburg last week.

Säpo spokesperson Sirpa Franzen told TT and AFP news agencies that last Thusrday's raid against the Bellevue Mosque in the city was instigated by prosecutor Agnetha Hilding Qvarnström, who leads the investigation against three men arrested on the September 10.

Franzen refused to say whether the raid was connected to the arrests.

The men were arrested following the evacuation from an arts centre in Gothenburg and were initially suspected of plotting a terrorist attack. However, the charges were later changed to preparing murder and the prosecutor said it related only to one individual.
