Police officer forgot weapon - at IKEA's public lavatory

A police officer who went for a quick lunch at IKEA store in southern Stockholm, had a startling surprise when she returned to the station, the newspaper Metro reports. She realised that she had forgotten her service weapon - at the public lavatory in the furniture store.

She called the company and was relieved to hear that the gun had been handed in to security.

Afterwards she explained to the interior investigations team that she normally puts her weapon in the sink so that she will not forget it. But the smaller toilet booths at the store did not have a sink, so she put it next to a bin.

Almost two hours passed before she discovered the item was missing. She will now face disciplinary action, either a warning or a smaller amount deducted from her salary.
