Three suspects arrested in double murder

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly couple on a farm outside Alingsås in the southwest of Sweden, reports news agency TT. Two men were arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, although one of the men was released on Friday evening because the level of suspicion was not deemed high enough to continue holding him.

A third man was arrested on Friday, suspected of playing a supporting role in the murder.

One of the three men is said to have a connection to the neighborhood, reports TT.

Police spokesperson, Thomas Fuxborg, says because items, including a safe, are missing in the couple's house they believe the case started as a robbery.

The man was found in a barn and the woman in the house. The couple was supposed to attend a choir rehearsal on Thursday, but never made it.
