Kamprad recovering from heart surgery

Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad, 85, is recovering from heart surgery performed in Switzerland yesterday, Expressen newspaper reports.

Per Heggens, head of the Ikea Foundation in Holland and Kamrad’s personal spokesman, told Expressen that Kamprad is doing well and hopes to be home in a couple of days.

Kamprad has a pacemaker and has taken heart medicine for several years. According to Expressen’s sources, he was admitted to a clinic in Lausanne on Wednesday and operated on yesterday.

Last night Heggens told Expressen: “I can confirm that Ingvar Kamprad underwent routine heart surgery today.”
