Jail term increased for murderer of mother of three

The Swedish Court of Appeal has increased from 14-years to 18-years the prison sentence of a 42-year-old man who shot dead a mother of three in Sävedalen near Gothenburg.

The 33-year-old victim, who'd been shot in the head, was found outside the door of her home by her 11-year-old daughter last autumn.

The court said it increased the sentence due to the execution style nature of the attack and that the killer would have known that in all likelihood the woman's three young children would discover her body.

The man had been in an earlier relationship with the single mother and could not accept that their relationship was over.
