Klädesholmen water must be boiled
Almost 400 people on the island of Klädesholmen, outside Tjörn, must boil their water, after the municipality declared that it is not safe to drink.
Carl-Ian Bissmark is head of emergency services at Tjörn municipality. He says to Swedish Radio News Gothenburg that it can be a week before the water is again safe to use.
The closest clean water is at a stand pipe in Bleket, or at the fire station in Skärhamn.
It was a routine test that this morning showed contamination from soil, in the form of bacteria. A spokesman at Tjörn municipality says that the bacteria are not especially aggressive, that the water is still safe to wash hands in, but that the bacteria are dangerous for people with certain illnesses.
