Women less compensated for work injuries

It remains more difficult for women than men to receive compensation for injuries sustained at work.

Looking at figures from 2009 and 2010, the social security inspectors concluded that 39 percent of men who apply for compensation receive it, compared to 24 percent of women.

The inspectors point out that rules for granting compensation were changed in 2002 specifically to target the gender inbalance but that no change has taken place, reports Swedish news agency TT.
