Our special guest this Friday is from Swedish Television's new series, Allt för Sverige, or Everything for Sweden. It's a reality show about ten Americans who come to Sweden seeking their Swedish roots and compete for the chance to meet their relatives. Critics say it is contrived and full of stereotypes idealizing Sweden, others say it is entertaining and heart-warming.

The series begins with a small boat arriving to Torekov in southern Sweden on a radiant summer day. The contestants, a little green from their ride over the choppy sea, step off and are wonderstruck. One them even kisses the ground. Finally, they've arrived in Sweden, the land of their ancestors.

Radio Sweden interviews the host, Anders Lundin, and one of the contestants, Guy Clark, a designer and decorator from New York.

The third episode of Allt för Sverige airs this Sunday on Swedish National Public Television. It can also be accessed through www.svtplay.se.
