Too many delays

Emergency services warned

The Swedish social welfare board has sharply criticized the alarm ambulance system answering calls from people in trouble.

The board lists some 50 cases where a refusal to answer requests for help or long delays have resulted in deaths or serious injuries.

It demands better training of personnel and threatens to slap heavy fines on the ambulance and emergency hospital care if improvements are not made.
