Hospital staff blames the woman if she is abused

One in three working at Scandinavia's biggest emergency ward, at the South General Hospital in Stockholm, think it is the fault of a woman if she has been physically abused, Swedish Radio News reports.

That is the result of a survey of 217 staff members at the hospital. The survey also shows that one in ten of them do not think it is the health care systems responsibility to investigate how the woman got her injuries.

Every year, 15-20 women in Sweden are murdered by their partner. Over half of them had sought treatment for injuries due to physical abuse.
