Hit the Södra länk, Jack!

Sweden’s largest road/tunnel project opened for traffic on Sunday.

Södra länken is designed to alleviate some of the heavy traffic in Stockholm and its suburbs.

With four and a half kilometres of tunnel, in total it’s about six kilometres long with a capacity of 60 000 vehicles per day.

Construction began in 1997 and thousands of Stockholmers were there to celebrate its opening, complete with a fireworks display.
